Plastic Surgeon to Host Charity Brunch/Forum

Secaucus, New Jersey, December 5, 2009 – Meadowlands Hospital Associate Staff Plastic Surgeon, Lorelle N. Michelson, M. D., F.A.C.S., LLC is hosting a charity brunch and workshop for people interested in learning about topics of current interest in medicine and Plastic Surgery.

This complimentary forum is designed to facilitate collaboration among participants. It has been conducted three times yearly during the past decade. The next Open House is scheduled for Sunday, January 17, 2010 at 11 AM in the Penthouse of thenewly-renovated Meadowlands Medical Center.

The West Essex Chamber Players will open the program with a medley of classical and popular pieces. This Group always enhances the venue while engrossing the audience with their varied musical selections.

The Center for Food Action will be a focal point of the seminar. This non-profit Bergen County-based group provides tireless support to New Jersey residents in need. Their efforts have redoubled during these notably trying times.

A special dedication to the constituents of this outstanding organization is planned. Ms. Barbara Grohs, long- time supporter and member of the Board of Directors of the Center for Food Action, as well as other CFA volunteers, will be present.

Dr. Michelson will also be joined by Michelle Reisner, M. D., Director of Geriatrics at Jersey City Medical Center and reknowned Hudson County internist and geriatrician. Dr. Reisner’s presentation, “Do I Have Alzheimer’s Disease?” will offer a stimulating discussion of this disorder.

Dermatechnician, MaryAnn Velardi, will speak about the application of permanent cosmetics in the medical setting. Ms. Velardi often enlists the assistance of a model to facilitate her demonstrations. Ms. Velardi, an experienced practitioner, is also an instructor in this field.

Dr. Michelson will discuss cosmetic eyelid surgery and she will also talk about plastic surgical emergencies: “A Day in the Life of A Plastic Surgeon.” These topics are of particular interest for anyone who has ever had a plastic surgical emergency room visit, as well as for those who are remaining in the work force for longer periods. Dr. Michelson encourages energetic audience interaction.

“Plastic surgery has become noticeably mainstream. More people are at ease discussing cosmetic surgery they have had,” Dr. Michelson said. “There are, however, individuals who might be contemplating a procedure and are unaware of newer techniques or less invasive technology. Many, likewise, are unaware of the availability of plastic surgeons in emergency situations.”

Michelson, a Bergen County resident, facilitates these seminars three times each year. “The symposia are designed to be fun and, above all, educational,” Michelson said.

“There is, in addition, great networking potential, especially for business-owners and entrepreneurs catering to a savvy, image-oriented clientele. Our charitable contribution is likewise an important component of these meetings.”

Michelson, a Diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a Clinical Associate Professor at the Universitry of Medicine and Dentisty of New Jersey/New Jersey Medical School, maintains her private practice in both Englewood and also in Denville, New Jersey

Exhibitors of trendy, boutique items, including a distributor of unique purses, a fine jeweler, a creator handmade jewelry and a purveyor of distinctive home accents will, among others, be on site. Unique samples, door prizes and a complimentary gourmet brunch are offered.
